POEM: WHENEVER/

Whenever/

though ununited on a daily basis

we remain close as skin, significant

as dreams wherein

one could never be untwinned

as long as the other lives

even when connections come infrequent

as the rouge arrival of comets

the relation remains constant

—the recycle

of sun warmed water

uprising

            out of life's surging sea

            & returning eventually

            a gentle falling

            translucent

            rain

            wetting

            the dark

            of our

            receptive

            earth
